Pastors & Staff

Martin Hedman

(BSIE, University of Washington; MBA, Claremont Graduate University; MACS, Westminster Seminary California)  Pastor Martin has served as deacon and elder in the PCA, and then for about ten years as organizing pastor of Mission Presbyterian, a church plant of the PCA in La Habra, CA.  A Seattle native, Martin and his family relocated to the Seattle area in 2017.  They are thrilled to live here, to be a part of, and to serve and fellowship with the body of Christ at Hope Presbyterian.

Jim Sherwin

Jim was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta and came to faith in his university years. During those university years he met and married Joanne. Jim graduated from the University of Alberta with a mechanical engineering degree, worked for several years in Alberta and Ontario, then moved with Joanne and their four children to Kirkland to work for Boeing. He retired in 2016. Jim was a member of the Bellewood church, and became a member of Hope when the churches merged. He began serving as a deacon in 2017, and as an elder in 2021.

(B.A., Ancient Languages - Wheaton College; Post Baccalaureate Cert., Classics - UCLA)
Chris was raised in a loving, Christian family in Southern California and became a member in the PCA as an adult in 2008. He is happily married to his high school sweetheart, Meredith, and is humbled and grateful to be a father to their four children. Chris loves living in the Pacific Northwest, and his favorite things include wearing flannel shirts, roasting/drinking coffee, playing the guitar, and watching the Sounders. His earnest prayer for the people of Hope is that they would come to know and love Jesus more deeply as they continue to see and experience the profound beauty of the Gospel.

Don Shorno

Don grew up in Michigan, joined the US Air Force, got married, and spent a year in Vietnam. After the service, Don and his wife Carol moved to Kirkland, where they became believers and joined Rose Hill Presbyterian Church. They then moved their family to the Monroe area, where Don was ordained as a deacon in Westminster OPC (Hope’s parent church). Don is responsible for Hope’s financial reports.
